Spoken of as 'camonya' in local tongue, this luxuriously fresh + sticky oleoresin is harvested sustainably within the tropical jungles of West/Central Africa and Congo; used locally as an incense for domestic and ceremonial purposes. There are many species of Elemi all with varyingaromatic profiles - this offering is deeper and more complexly rounded than her sisters.

Scent - citrus, honey, amber, musky sweet

Application - incense, perfumery, medicinal salves (dissolves easily in warm oil)

Source - Angola

Correspondence - Mercury

As a Mercurial incense, Elemi lends an amplifying energy to workings and can assist with clarification and sharpening of ones intention. Wonderfully uplifting and revitalising to the spirit this resin burns clean on charcoal, and would work beautifully to support motivation during the waxing moon phases.

Elemi carries a special affinity for the skin, containing natural antiseptic, fungicidal, and insecticidal properties. These resins have long been incorporated into liniments for treating rheumatic pain, burns and other skin maladies and are considered an invaluable ally for anti-aging + rejuvenative skincare.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When collected, this resin is flattened into an oval and wrapped in a leaf to protect it from debris - this listing is for one half segment of this ball - approximately 13-15g worth (approx 3 x4 cm)

▵ This resin by nature is deliciously sticky, as such your quarter segment may be wrapped in plastic to avoid it melting to the cloth bag

Resins will not burn on their own, they will require heat from either an oil burner or charcoal disk.

▵ using an oil burner releases much more of the true aroma of the resin than charcoal disks and also creates far less smoke. Place a piece of foil in the well of your oil burner and lay a small piece of resin on top; this prevents lots of mess and cleaning after use. Electric oil burners also work well.
▿ Never leave an oil burner un-attended. Keep out of reach of children.

▵ Fill your charcoal burner 3/4 full with sand or rocks to absorb some of the heat. Then place your burner on a heat resistant surface. Using tongs to hold the charcoal tablet, light it following the instructions provided with your charcoal. Place the hot charcoal onto the bed of sand inside your charcoal burner and allow the charcoal 5-15 minutes to fully come to temperature, indicated by a layer of ash forming on the tablet before carefully adding the desired quantity of resin to the top of the hot disk.

▿ Never leave a charcoal burner un-attended. Keep out of reach of children.
